Winter is the stage name of a South Korean singer and dancer, and a member of the girl group aespa. Her birth name is Kim Min-jeong. She was born in South Korea in the early 2000s. She is one of the group's vocalists and also performs in their choreography.
She joined the entertainment company SM Entertainment as a trainee, and debuted with aespa in 2020. Since then, her work has been primarily associated with the group's activities: mini albums, musical theater productions, and music television programs.
Early career and training
Following the standard system of South Korean K-pop entertainment companies, Winter underwent an extended training period before debut, including voice training, dance, and languages. She went through this process before her membership was announced publicly. The company released promotional materials featuring each trainee in the months prior to the group's official launch.
aespa and the avatar concept
aespa debuted in 2020 with a concept based on the connection between the real members and digital personas, called 'æ'. Accordingly, Winter is paired with a digital avatar that appears in music videos and marketing materials. This concept stems from the company's integration of visual art and imaging technology, and does not mean her voice is altered.
Musical work
Winter has participated in all of the group's releases since the beginning, including the group's debut single and other tracks that became popular with Korean music fans. She has also collaborated with other SM Entertainment artists on various joint projects.
